Are you thinking about selling your home? You might want to listen up, especially if you’re thinking of catering to the upcoming wave of millennial buyers hitting the market.

Understanding Millennial vs Traditional Preferences
Millennials are the next phase of buyers that are coming in and they’re going to be coming in strong! When they all hit the market, we have to adapt and make sure that we’re catering to the buyers that are in the market, right?
That’s what it’s all about. And that’s one of the things that I wanted to share with you. It’s really important that when you make the decision to sell your home, you sit down with a local real estate expert. Why? Because what you knew or what was important to you when you bought your home has changed.
Markets change. Consumers look for different things each time around right now. They’re looking for things like an open floor plan. They like turnkey-ready homes. So yes, you still have a significant amount of folks who are investors and they’re looking for as-is properties and are looking for opportunities.
That’s different. But your traditional buyer is looking for an open concept. They love the turnkey-ready homes. I’ve noticed that a lot of them love the kitchen and living room area, not to have any carpet. Does it matter? Haven’t noticed a preference for tile versus laminate versus wood.
Open concept, updated fixtures, and no carpet in the living room and kitchen are desirable features for buyers. Millennial buyers, who are more likely to have pets than children, consider pet-friendly features essential, with 81% of them preferring to have pets and 84% considering pet-friendly home features important.
So again, it’s really important for us to make sure that we are preparing our homes. For the consumers that are out there at the time that we put the house on the market.
