As demand for housing rises, Killeen is expanding to meet the needs of new and existing residents. The southern region, in particular, is seeing a surge in development, with new neighborhoods and infrastructure improvements in the community. South Killeen is experiencing rapid growth, with new residential developments underway. Featherline Road is a key area of expansion, where around 300 new homes are planned, with another 300 likely to follow. Another major development, Turnbo Ranch, is a 3,000-home subdivision just outside the city limits. Covering 1,370 acres, this long-term project is steadily growing, with home prices currently ranging from $269,000 to $287,000. The development includes newly built single-family homes and utility infrastructure to support the growing community.

Additionally, the Preserve at Thousand Oaks, a 390-acre development, is in progress. Expected to bring around 1,200 homes, this community will also feature public parks, adding to the area’s appeal.

To accommodate these housing expansions, Killeen is making significant infrastructure investments. The city has allocated $11.7 million to widen Featherline Road, improving traffic flow and safety. The project will add three lanes, sidewalks, street trees, enhanced drainage, a new water main, and intersection upgrades. The design phase is expected to take about two years.

Moreover, as development in Turnbo Ranch and other areas progresses, the city continues to provide essential services, including water and wastewater management, ensuring these communities have the necessary infrastructure to thrive.
